Welcome to a new feature to this blog, called the iPhone Webapp of the Week!

NOTE: Most of the webapps will also work on the iPod touch, so for this first post I added it to the title.

Now, let’s get started.

CNET for iPhone – http://iphone.cnet.com/

CNET for iPhone (and iPod touch) is a webapp that let’s you browse through CNET’s excellent content, such as news.com and download.com, but will also let you watch CNET TV programs on your iPhone!

However, there are some problems. First of all, you’re limited to the shows available on CNET TV. You can’t watch Loaded or CNET Live. Another problem is that even though they specially format Crave and Webware to your iPhone, you can’t surf their forums. Just some features that should have been there.

If anyone reads this blog, and has one of the above Apple devices, you can now add this site to your homescreen. However, you can’t just click “Add to homescreen” in the bookmarks menu. I’m afraid WordPress.com doesn’t let you do that. Here’s what you have to do:

  • Go to http://www.scm.keele.ac.uk/webclipr/#_home on your iPhone or iPod touch
  • Scroll down and press “Create Web Clip”
  • Now, enter in what you want to call the bookmark. I recommend “WI”.
  • Now enter in the address of this blog. http://whiteinnovation.wordpress.com
  • Now, enter in this tinyurl in the images slot and press create: http://tinyurl.com/569k2m
  • Follow the instructions and press add to home screen on the bookmark icon on bottom of your screen.

Now, you’re all set! The icon is a little rainbow apple logo. I felt retro at the time. :p
